Our Secondary Offer
Key Stage 3: Middle School
Key Stage 3 education at High Grange School provides pupils with a tailored, supportive, and inclusive environment that fosters academic and personal growth. The curriculum is designed with a focus on developing key life-skills, emotional wellbeing, and academic abilities, preparing pupils for the next stages of education and life beyond school.
The Key Stage 3 curriculum follows the National Curriculum but is adapted to support the diverse needs of pupils. Core subjects such as English, Mathematics, Science, and ICT are delivered in a structured, supportive manner, allowing pupils to progress at their own pace. Alongside the core subjects, pupils also engage in creative and practical subjects like Art, Design and Technology, Food Technology, and Physical Education. These subjects encourage self-expression, creativity, and physical wellbeing.
Personal, Social, Health, and Economic Education (PSHE) is a key component of the Key Stage 3 experience. This includes lessons in relationships, mental health, wellbeing, and citizenship, with a view to supporting pupils to develop emotional resilience and social skills. Additionally, lessons in Religious Education (RE) and the promotion of British Values help pupils to understand different cultures, faiths, and moral values, and to foster respect and tolerance.

Key Stage 4: Upper School
Education in Upper school (Years 10 and 11) is designed to promote greater independence for all pupils, whilst carefully considering their need for continued support. Pupils will study core lessons and also choose their own subjects from a range of four option blocks. Each pupil will be part of a tutor group and then will move around the school to access their lessons.
Pupils can work towards a range of formal qualifications, including GCSE and A Levels. Teachers collaborate with a wide range of professionals, the pupil and of course parents to establish which route is best. For some pupils, this is more of a formal education and for others more vocational. Flexibility within the timetable allows us to provide individualised timetables that are based upon pupil needs, interests and aspirations.
There is a strong emphasis on personal development and through small class sizes, a personalised approach, and specialist inputs from our multidisciplinary team, pupils build their confidence, develop their social skills and become increasingly independent.
