Our School
Message From The Principal
As Principal of High Grange School, I would like to welcome you to our website.
Since opening in September 2011, High Grange School has grown in size and reputation and is now an Outstanding (Ofsted 2023) specialist, independent school for children and young people with Autism Spectrum Conditions (ASC).
Here at High Grange School, we are proud to have developed our ACE ethos. This is firmly embedded across the whole school and is our autism-focused approach to meeting individual EHCP outcomes by developing pupils’ Adaptive thinking, Communication and Emotional wellbeing (ACE). In addition to obtaining formal academic qualifications, we believe that developing pupils’ knowledge and skills in these core areas helps to equip them with resilience, independence, and essential life-skills in preparation for adult life beyond school.
Gavin Spicer
Principal
Our extensive, highly skilled and experienced Education and Therapy teams work collaboratively with pupils and their families to achieve the best possible outcomes. This is often following years of struggle in previous school placements, but as a nationally accredited “Trauma informed School,” we have an impressive track record in enabling pupils, over time, to discover renewed self-confidence, self-belief and self-esteem. This was recognised by Ofsted (2023) who remarked about our pupils: “High Grange School gives them another chance. The pupils take this chance and they flourish.”
In the following sections of our website, we have tried to put together an overview of our school, our curriculum, our community and our admissions process but please contact us if you need additional information on anything, or can’t find what you’re looking for.
Thank you for your interest in High Grange School and for visiting our website.
Gavin Spicer, Principal
